Representasi Perempuan Dalam Serial Gadis Kretek

Women often experience gender inequality, discrimination, and also patriarchy from society because. One of the depictions of gender inequality, discrimination and patriarchy towards women is depicted in the series "Cretek Girl". This research is a semiotic study using John Fiske's "The Codes of Television" semiotic method. The subjects of this research are women in the series "Cretek Girls". Data collection was carried out using documentation and literature study methods. The research results show that women in the cigarette industry experience gender inequality because there is marginalization and subordination which means that the portion of women's work in the series is only casual labor and cannot show potential or expertise in the cigarette production sector. This is proven by the existence of cuts to scenes and dialogue in the series "Cretek Girl".
